Half term Homework – All due in Tuesday that we return. You
can hand in on the Monday if you wish.
1)
Maths sheet revising mixed numbers to improper
fractions. Please complete this in your maths book. If you are stuck there are
some videos in earlier posts on this blog about how to change mixed to improper.
2)
English sheet – Please write out the story in
your English book replacing the idioms with actual meanings ensuring the story
flows.
3)
Next term we are going to do a mini theme on
Inventions – inspired by the many inventions that occurred during the Georgian
and Victorian eras. Over the half term have a think about what inventions you
think have been particularly special and any inventors you know or would like
to know more about. Spend about 45 minutes on this. It might be doing some
research, reading something in a book, talking to someone.
Things that are helpful to do:
Practise multiplication tables up
to 12x12
When reading discuss your book
with someone, thinking about the authors decisions (what ideas, words can we
magpie (steal) from them?
Let’s hope the
weather is nice for at least a few days so we can enjoy autumn. Have fun see
you in a week.

Week 6
A busy final week before half term.
Don't forget alarm clocks and shoe boxes for science on Thursday.
Here is the link for the water jug puzzle we discussed this morning:
http://resources.woodlands-junior.kent.sch.uk/maths/jugs/

This weeks spellings are to revise all spellings from the term, I have switched on all the words in Spelling city.
Your Thursday homework, which I have already given you, is to create a quick for SOME of the words. Not all. If you would like to hand it in before Thursday there is more chance we will be able to have a go as a class.

Weekend Homework
tips: Make sure you show off your target.
Think about the sound that you would hear, use ideas from the film Oliver and Street Child.
What would you smell. We have read and seen lots of evidence of stall selling food, such as shrimps and fish.
How would you be feeling and behaving.
Remember we have learnt that Berlie Doherty uses short sentences to encourage the reader to read quickly and feel tense and that she uses a lot of sounds and action rather to move us through the setting.
I look forward to reading you writing next week.
You also have a mixed maths sheet.
See you on Monday. It is harvest assembly, try to bring a tin or packet of food.
